Founded in 1894, Portmarnock Golf Club is internationally recognised as one of the top links courses in the world. The club has hosted an impressive number of leading championships including 19 Irish Opens, the Canada Cup and the Walker Cup. Surrounded by water on three sides, this course is at the mercy of the wind.
The Island
A must-play on any itinerary to the east coast, The Island is a classic links course, set on rugged terrain, nestled between the highest sand dunes in this part of the country and encircled by water on 3 sides. The front nine received a makeover in early 2020 by renowned architects MacKenzie & Ebert.
European Club
This European Club is unique in that the original designer Pat Ruddy is, to this day continuously making alterations to improve the links to meet the challenges of the modern game. The course is located in tumbling dunes just south of Dublin in Co. Wicklow and it features sweeping sea views from nineteen of the twenty holes.
Royal Dublin
Royal Dublin, Ireland's second oldest golf club, was founded in 1885. It is located on a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, North Bull Island and combines nature at its finest with the contrasting backdrop of Dublin City. Designed by world famous golf architect Harry Colt, it is a must visit for any golfer looking for a true links golf experience.
Royal Co. Down
This course needs little introduction, Royal County Down is renowned as one of the best golf courses in the world. Based in Newcastle, a little holiday town at the foot of the majestic Mountains of Mourne, the course stretches along the shores of Dundrum Bay, zigzagging back and forth to provide a different view from virtually every hole.
Co. Louth
More affectionately known as ‘Baltray’, Co. Louth Golf Club is currently ranked the 8th best course in Ireland by Golf Digest, who described it as a “snapshot of the way golf should be’. Although it is a championship links golf course, it is a course that can be enjoyed by golfers of all levels.
